Overview of Parent Handbook:
* Hours of operation/Late fees:
Kinzle Kids facility operates Monday thru Friday From 6:30 AM to 5:30 PM. There are rare occasions that other arrangements can be made between parents and myself. Late fees of $1.00 will be charged each minute for children picked up after 5:30 pm. (Firm, unless prior arrangements have been made)
* Facility closings:
Kinzle Kids will close for the holidays and these days will be paid holidays. (Holidays that will be observed can be found on the rates & hours page) If any holiday should fall on a weekend we will be closed the day prior or the day following the holiday. Please note: Kinzle Kids will be closed for two weeks throughout the year. Parents will be given these dates at least two weeks prior to my vacation time. You will be charged for all of the listed holidays and one of the vacation weeks. ( the second week of vacation is optional for me and may not be used at all)
* Payment policy:
Weekly fees are based on your enrollment schedule. Accounts will be charged the agreed upon rate, even in the event of an absence, holiday or providers one week vaction. Weekly fees must be paid in cash or money order. Weekly fees are due a week in advance on friday. Same with SRS payments. Rate changes are evaluated each January 1st, with six week notice if any changes have been made.
* Child withdrawal:
If the parent/guardian finds it necessary to withdraw a child from care, he/she must give a two-week written notice to me prior to withdrawal. There will be a one week deposit required at the time of enrollment (payment arrangements can be made). The deposit will be kept if a parent/guardian neglects to provide a two-week notice, otherwise the deposit will be applied toward the last week of the child's care.
* It might be necessary for me to give notice to a parent/guardian to stop caring for a child. I will give the parent/guardian a two-week notice prior to ending care. In rare cases of severe problems, I may be forced to release the child from my care without giving a two-week notice. Care may be terminated for the following reasons but is not limited to:
1. Child is increasingly unhappy and unable to become comfortable with the child care setting.
2. Child consistently physically or verbally hurts other children.
3. Parent/guardian routinely abuses drop-off and pick-up times.
4. Parent/guardian doesn't pay child care fees on time.
5. Parent/guardian does not work with the child care provider as a team to provide consistent guidance and discipline.
Please note that at Kinzle Kid's we do not tolerate hitting, kicking, biting, or foul mouths...I promise a fun, loving, safe environment for all children and I cannot successfully provide this type of environment when there is constant negative, unsafe behavior from a child. I do allow the children a few weeks to adjust to being in a new place with new surroundings. I know that it can sometimes be scary but if the unwanted behavior persists or worsens after the few weeks allotted it will be in the best interest of all the children in my care to take action (2 weeks notice). Thank you for your understanding.
* Discipline
If a child is throwing a tantrum 9 times out of 10 the issue can be resolved by diversion. I will attempt to divert the child's attention to another toy or to another area to eliminate the problem. If that does not work I will talk to the child in a kind, calm manner and ask the child why he/she is feeling angry or upset. I will consistently define limits and if none of the above work I will deny the child privileges with every opportunity for the child to earn his/her privileges back. Sparingly, and only as a last resort will I use time out/thinking chair. If it is necessary for the child to be placed in time out it will be 1 minute for every year of the child's age. (i.e. if the child is 3 he/she will be placed in time out for 3 minutes total and no longer)
* Illness:
If your child becomes ill during the day, you will be notified and expected to pick your child up within the hour so we can keep the possibility of spreading the infection to a minimum. If it is difficult for you to leave the work place on short notice, we suggust having an alternate caregiver that would be available to pick up your child for you. A child may not be brought to or remain at Kinzle Kids with an oral temperature of 101 or above and must be tylenol free and free of symptoms such as diarrhea or vomitting for at least 24 hours before being re-admitted.
* Absence:
If your child will not be attending child care due to illness, please notify me by phone within an hour of normal attendance. Likewise, if your child will be late or absent, notify me by 8:00AM.(If I do not answer, please leave a message)
